On January 27 Wrecker Robotics competed in the NY Hudson Valley regional state championship event at Pace University in Westchester NY.
This was our second event of the weekend and we came into the event well prepared for a big day. The event was very well attended. 36 teams from NY attended and competition was very good. Only two teams from outside NY participated: Wrecker Robotics and a team from Rhode Island.
The Wreckers won their first 2 of 5 events and were riding high. Technical difficulties arose and we dropped the next two events. Even with not finishing in the top 4 teams and making the final round, we were able to get selected by the second place alliance team and participated in the finals as a selected alliance partner.
While we did not win this event nor qualify for the World Championship, the team continued to learn and finished the weekend on a high note with big plans for improving their robot. |

Wrecker Robotics won their very first Inspire Award on January 26 at the North Andover MA state qualifier event. This award was completely unexpected for the team. We worked really hard all season on our log book and Will Moeller put together a great video submission for the event. Apparently the judges felt the combination of the team's synergy, robot, log book, service... All made for team 577 to be the winners of the highest award of the day!
In addition to the Inspire Award, we finished the day part of the winning alliance and won the right to compete in the MA state championship in March! |
